Yesterday my buddy and I hunted a large area that he found through some research. The first site on the property was basically ruined by old dumped garbage. We then saw another hill that looked promising so we checked it. This next hill produced 3 plain flat buttons and these military buttons.
The Royal Navy dates to before 1840 I think. The one piece dragoons is 1830-40s
Had a blast digging these! royal dragoon.jpgroyal back.jpg

Nice finds. The Navy looks great with it's gold there, really gives it eye appeal. I'd say Royal Navy Master 1807-1825

Nice, looks earlier than 1840 to me as well!

sweet finds, the video was great too! you smacked your buddy pretty good with those!

Thanks Smokey!

Congrats Keith, both buttons are killer
Thanks Jon!

What are the three main rules of detecting again? 1) have a working machine 2) have stuff in the ground 3) put the coil over the stuff and don't be picky and dig it.

Amazing buttons, congrats

Sweet finds!

Nicely done, and all the best,

Lanny

SC, see if either of you navy buttons match this chart. Congrats

Can you read the full backmark on your Navy button. I can read St. Martins but not the other word(s). Both are awesome finds in my book.

The backmark is: Walter Williams St. Martins Lane London
Nice finds! My button finds have been slim this year so I was glad to see it can be done.
Mine have been slim too until Friday 13!

Two really nice buttons! Congrats!
