I found this rock, and it is really smooth. At first I thought it was a clay marble, but I am not sure. Any thoughts or is it just a neat geofact? Thanks l! 405719FD-CB1C-4BAE-8370-15D13A1C0108.jpegB32EF65E-6E29-45B3-BC52-9DE4954C8B7F.jpeg

Odd, I don't think my area has many fossiliferous rocks or material. I am still confused. Thanks for the reply though!

I could be wrong but from the appearance it appears to be be a rounded stone and not a clay marble. If this is so, then it is likely a stone used in a Native America Bolas for the purpose of hunting or possibly a stone used in a game.

Thanks for all the responses guys! I have determined it to be made out of some orange quartzite. At the end of the day though I think it is natural, probably some water shaping involved. As intriguing it would be to think man had a play in its shape, I just don't think that is the case. Thanks as always!

Take it to a museum or University that have experts on Native American Indians and the tools they used and get their opinion on the stone.
