Round Pieces

[D-VO]

Found these round pieces that have weight like lead but are not soft like lead. One of them has an X or Cross Marked into it and the other has a piece missing from it (no markings) and a clip notched into it. Found about 12 miles from 1800's trading post in Manitoba Canada in the direction of another trading post. Any ideas?

Maybe silver, its not unusual for them to check if the silver is plated by scratching a cross into it. If they are silver, it would explain why one is missing a piece. Even small bits had value.

They certainly look like lead.
You didn't offer the dimensions, they have the look of flattened musket balls, maybe game pieces.
