Hi all. I was wondering if someone might have an idea what this is. My dad found it with a metal detector many years ago. It is lead and, weighs exactly 4 ounces. It was fairly deep in a park where he also found many round balls.

My guess is this is how lead was once sold.

Yeah, I've looked everywhere. I'm assuming this is very old considering the depth it was and where it was found. I'm wondering if lead was once sold this way and was carried to make round balls.

Maybe a decorative lead seal of some sort?

My first thought was a butter mold insert but if it is lead that wouldn't be right. I think it is part of a mold of some sort.
