✅ SOLVED Round gold plated whatsit

I found this little bugger a few weeks ago at an 1870 house on top of or very near the site of an 1850s post office. It made it into a few pics with some of the coins and things I found but I've been meaning to post it for a while. Any ideas on what this little thing might be?
