My friend and I decided to detect on an old farming field that had been cultivated since the late 18 century, and we dip up this odd piece of brass. It is round and smooth on the front and has bent bars protruding from the back. I originally thought it was a piece to a two-piece buckle, but the way the there were bars all around the back has me thinking otherwise. Maybe a piece of old horse tack? Anybody have any ideas?
