ROUGH Draped Bust...See the "1" over a fraction.....

but cannot quite make out the date on the reverse. It looks to be a 1796 or 1797. Any good eyes out there to help? This was the Large Cent I dug two weeks ago at DIV and I just got around to really cleaning it up. The face faces right rather than left like the later Large Cents and I can make out the bow in her hair. Take a look at this rough lady...

On the reverse though harder to see in the photo, I can make out what seems to be a number.....I have highlighted it in a comparison photo before and after below...

I tried to enhance one of your photos but couldn't make anything out and think that it might be easier to read if the coin was dry.

I think it is a 1797.

Believe it or not it is tougher when dry, cannot even make out the head......will post one though

I think it is a 1797.

I thought it could be as well but wanted another pair of eyes to see it.Looks like 1796 or 1797...

That's the best I can do, my friend. I'm glad that the coin can be attributed by type. That is a very good thing.

Lay the coin flat on the table and pour a little milk on it,you will be surprised what detail shows
up.Try it and see what you see.
