Mmm, so there were rosettes made from lead. Are these older than Civil War?

Its a pewter ee lead, or a kinda lead-alloy, not very pure & often plated with a silver or gold gilt. Yes they are earlier than CW :icon_thumright:

Take a look at this lead-filled rosette I found:

Is it possible you have a rosette that had a brass ap on it at one point and the lead fell out?

I have one made of Pewter aswell Breezie. And as Cru said it has just a little bit of gold gilt left on it. That came from a early site, around 1800 or so. :thumbsup:
