Hey Buds, I went back to the 1870's homestead today and found this rosette looking piece. I've posted some pics before/after cleaning. There are 2 tabs connected on the side of the center piece. One tab is folded under, and the other is straight on on top. It has 2 loops on the back. As you can see, it has 2 attachment areas on the back. Any ideas? Thanks, Breezie

horse, although the strap slide gap is pretty thin, so it went on a thin strap.

Yes, Cru, I think you are right as it being a horse rosette. After closer examination, the 2 middle loops are actually 1 loop that has been bent. This would as you said, hold the thin/tiny strap. The missing piece was probably a flat bar that is typical on all rosettes. I think it's safe to green check this one. Thanks to all, Breezie
