Hi all, not only am I new to the site, but I'm also relatively new to MD'ing. I've only had my Ace 350 for about 2 weeks now...I bought it used with a 4" sniper coil, 5"x8" DD coil, and an 8.5"x 11.5" DD. I'm really interested in coin shooting and usually visit parks or old vacant homes. So far I've been getting a ton of (what I assume) are false signals. I run it on coin mode (sensitivity two or three from max) and don't have any trouble finding a good tone. I only dig when I can get a solid, repeatable tone. But when I dig, I find nothing. I'll re-scan the hole and get no signal at all. Also, I haven't mastered the built in pin-point option, but so far I'm not too impressed with it either. It doesn't seem to be very accurate. Just want to know if I need to keep working at it or if anyone else with the same equipment has had the same difficulties. Thanks for anyone who responds. I look forward to getting to know some of you and someday swapping stories/tips.

Hey coinseeker , I mainly use the sniper coil , but if a target jumps from iron to coin zone on the screen it's more likely junk , know when you swap coils out on it, I would use factory reset, how to do it is " hold power button down tell ya hear the double beep and that is call factory reset , also make sure the coil connections are snug and tight, I say leave the sniper on for the parks, hope it helps, tiderider

First try turning your sensitivity down. On my Ace 250 I run it on 3 or 4 bars from the bottom.

Is your coil lose and flopping around? If so wrap the wire up the shaft.

Do you scan in two different direction. When you get a good signal, step around the spot 90º and scan again. ( like east to west the first time, than north and south the second).

Give it some more time. I’m still learning after a year of metal detecting.

To help with pinpoint feature- move the coil off the target area, press pinpoint and slide back until the bars are full. Target should be in front of the rod in center of coil.

Some users slide the coil back in pinpoint until the signal stops, then target is just off the tip.

You can practice this with coins on the surface of grass to get an understanding how it works.

Run the coil wire up shaft about 10 inches and zoo tie or tape then start to wrap around shaft. Wayne was rite on on the pinpointing. When you get a signal raise coil about a foot and if it sounds off it big and probably junk a coin won't sound off if coil is that high. I ran my 350 at full strength and found lots of silver before I got my at pro.

zip not zoo darn iphone. Good luck.

Pulled my first two V nickels with the 350 today. The signal on those was really sketchy. Bounced around nickel ,pulltab, 1 notch above pulltab from one direction, step around 90 degrees and solid one notch under nickel. I had been dying to find one so I decided to open up my discrimination and dig lots of trashy signals.

Good job love those nickels.

Now you can find the gold rings too. They hit at the same VDI.

You have some great replies here. They should get you on track! Holler if you need more help! ;)

350 will produce.
A test garden even if homemade on the back of a sheet of cardboard and practice.
When you go out and lose a target do not leave it.
A pinpointer held in hand will help,so might taking small single hand full of soil and waving over top of coil to check for tiny targets. My current off center misses are from iron in area of target usually. Dig it out and check again. Sometimes 3 or 4 targets till accurate on the high tone I was after. No desire to discriminate to much for me,iron still going to have an effect when its above a good target, very important.
Were I starting you out it would be with sens at three notches below max.. Jewelry mode and you dig every thing till you can call what it is before you dig it,or you dig it.Even then you should dig it, but if your willing to miss an occasional surprise go ahead and try to cherry pick.
350 is a different animal with deep targets when you get familiar with it,if it hints coin dig.
