None of those are Roman.

The first 'I' piece is brass, I get a few of them & I'm unsure of the function.

The 3 knobs are for small drawers.

The last item I have no clue other than it looks no more than 200 years old.

I have been detecting this area in total for about 14 hours. There was supposed to be 2 temporary camps and a fort. Has anyone any suggestions where to search on a roman site. Thanks.

I guess it depends on the amount of area you're hunting as 14 hours on a couple of acres is a pretty good stab at trying to find something Roman, then again if your on a field that's 100's of acres it's a matter of just putting in the time finding that spot.

Details?

14 hours is not that long although, generally we find the site in about 1 hour. However, thats because we know what to look for.

First thing; is there lots of lead around?
Are there iron nails?
Are there any pot shards?
Does google earth show any cropmarks (check all the timelines)?
You should at least get roman coins, when your in the right spot.

I think your answer is in your question...supposed to be 2 temporary camps and a fort, it all depends on were your information has come from, was it reliable :dontknow:

I have no idea what the bottom right item is, but it looks the oldest piece there, the rest are modern, has your site had much detector activity, you should be finding small lead pieces and bronze and the lack of coins suggests it is not a Roman site, at least one that has seen a lot of occupation.

Keep trying or at least check google earth & tell us what you see? Because its pretty much a bust & its time to start the research again.

Item 3 at the top of the thread is a tuning peg for a stringed instrument of some sort.
