Dad & I did 4 hours today in the sun, lovely cool digging weather, with the surface somewhat dryer.

After 2 hours we finished the Southern edge of the site & finally a Roman Silver popped out in the corner with nothing else around it!

2 hours was spent starting the final Northern egde with only 1 Scrappy found, so this edge is going to be the toughest for finds. (but we knew that from previous years)

4 Scrappies
Nice Military Cap Badge (WWI I think?)
Jetton (type I need)
Siliqua of Honorius (not pretty but very welcome)8-)

Very nice, Congrats!

WTG Cru!! I knew from the subject of your post that you had something special. That one's been eluding you for a while, and your patience has finally paid off. Awesome find!!

Yeah we needed to cover about 18 acres to get it!

Fantastic! Roman SILVER! That's gotta be a thrill to dig that never gets old.

Cheers,

Buck

I have no idea on the cap badge (WWI or WWII), but that is one very cool find.

That was long overdue! Congrats! I knew that there was one hidden somewhere!

Great job Cru! Always feels great when you put in the time and finally get rewarded

Great job Cru!! How many Roman silver have you found total? Where you're detecting now, was it a town or a farm or a military camp? The history is amazing and I love your finds.

Great find! You had to plow a lot of field with your MD to get that one!

Nice going on the silver about time one showed, with all those bronzes I though there would be more by now. I guess the ratio of bronzes to silver shows how much rarer they are at the site, hope you have a streak of silvers show up now you popped this one.

In total Dad & I have had 144 Roman Silver.

The site we are doing is a small rural homestead/farm.

No more silvers are likely because the Northern strip has previous brought up no coins/artefacts at all, we are outside the boundry, but we just need to do it for completeness & the odd random find.

Way to go on the Roman Silver! I could not imagine the thrill it is to find such great pieces! Congrats! :icon_thumright:

Don't know how I missed this post till right now , allow me to be the latest to congratulate you on another amazing find ! keep em coming ,
(It's actually a great spectator sport when circumstances don't allow me to hunt much these days - for the time being )
