Dad did 2.5 hours yesterday on his own & got 4 Roman Coins, 3 buttons, musket balls. Today he did just 1 hour - 1 button.

I did 2.5 hours today & got 14 Roman Coins - shows the difference between the Cortes & XP:thumbsup:

I also got a complete Crotal Bell & bits...

This was only a short hunt. However, we have now got the most Roman Coins in the month of January, that we have ever had, & the month hasn't finished yet!

you are lucky in england

Nice decorated Terra Sigilata! This field has really lots of coins in it!

We are on 79 this month which is already more than the whole of the last year (on this field). Funny thing is, we have had about 130 Bronze & still no Silver. We have only ever had 2 of this field, ever.:icon_scratch: Maybe it will happen, with a Siliqua, I think. If not we are still lucky to have good options this time of year. (the hard months)

Pisses me off the damn euros can just go to their backyard and find damn medieval coins or ancient roman artifacts. Unfair. Damn Indians didn't even have metal. Fail

Not quite my backyard but it used to be the Romans.

With 130 bronze silver can't be far away! Roman silver becomes hard to find.... i only had two since harvest not counting Antoniane.

Yes, this site has given up 200+ bronzes & should normally have 4 silver & we have had only 2. Most sites the ratio is fairly stable at about 50/1 or 70/1 max. Unlike Govt. Stats ours hardly ever lie. But we may just have missed them in the very trashy area.

maybe your looking in the poor end of town!

This is only a 1 or 2 homestead site. Small & rural which could also account for it being on the poor side.

At this point we are way off the main area. It seems likely the coins are getting carried down the slope by Medieval ploughing/Modern ploughing. The known area of scattered coins has almost doubled to about 5-6 acres. They are less dense & spread out, but it still might be possible that a Silver is on the edge, it does happen.

what is the 3rd coin on the 4th line up to down?
look VERRY cool

The Roman silver coins usually come from sites that had military occupation, most if not all of your coins look late Roman and probably from a farmstead site, but I would not be bothered to much about finding that many, the later the Roman site, the better the chance of Saxon...good day :icon_thumleft:

Not always, but I get what you mean & I'm more than happy to mix Roman with Saxon because it's pretty rare.:icon_thumleft:

Man you all ways make me feel like we are digging new stuff. I would love to get some of them real old Artifacts. Looks like I need to take a long boat ride. HH...
