I'm an American so I don't know much about Roman... But it could be a cloak hook or a puttee hook.

Are there any holes in it?

Tacitly not roman.

Google "Miederhaken" (English translation Bodice Hook). Funny that this comes up at Oktoberfest time, when you see them in real life :laughing7:

rebbel31 - Your relics is, indeed, a horse decoration.

It does. That had not occurred to me because I was thinking 'older'. I was influenced by the word "Roman". It's amazing how one word can skew the direction of your thought/research direction.
