Firstly its the first day this year I have wrapped up a little more. (only just stopped being T-Shirt weather, still no gloves)
We made a full day of it & did a rather killer 6 hour hunt. Mostly because we were gridding the low yield, low dig area which meant fast covering of the land. No idea how many acres we covered but for an ankle break we probably done the largest area ever. (in 1 day)
We still have some of the annex area to do (Fan's Site), but we will return when its flatten down next year before the Spring drilling.
13 Roman Coins
1 Iron Age (Celtic) Fibula
3 1st C AD Roman Fibula
1 Mystery Roman piece
Broken Book Clasp
Steel-yard Weight
I got 2 good eyes only finds - Neolithic Flint & my first Romano-Celtic glass bead. As these beads have been found in both Iron Age & Roman context I can't be sure which it is, as this site has both. In some ways this 2000 year old bead was the best find, I was pleased to spot it in the rough ploughed conditions still intact.(although I thought it might be a metal loop before I bent down)
