Can somebody please help me identify this.

I assume it is not a coin, because roman coins had a head of current immperator on one side and something else (animal) on the other side.

This one as you can see has a picture of ship with some people on one side and on the other side are 4 guys. One of them is drowning or something. :)
Its 2 inches (around 5cm) wide and looks like its made of gold. It is heavy.
On the side with ship the letters bellow reads PROBI. I think thats related to Probus.

Thanks!

I'm not convinced that is a ship. Maybe it is the lower tier seating (VIP) at the coliseum. They are watching whatever the guys on the other side are doing. :dontknow:

Cool piece. Looks like brass or bronze to me.

Interesting, I believe your right about the boat. Not sure its gold, looks like over cleaned bronze? Did you find it & clean it? Or did it come out like this?

Et tu, CRUSADER?

It could be a ship, but given the level of detail on the back, I would expect to see oars or a sail or both on a ship.

I'm basing it on similar images on Roman Coins (not that it is a coin)

Just a few thoughts, I don't think it's a coin, maybe a commemorative medallion :dontknow:. Galleys on coins come in all shapes and sizes, some with oars some without oars and so on. Try this link for some examples of different styles of galleys on Roman coins (not medallions) http://www.forumancientcoins.com/moonmoth/reverse_galley.html

OK. After looking at the link provided by hammered, I'm convinced it is a ship.

I think this is a commemorative medallion from Robert Plant's 1988 "Now & Zen" tour. The front represents "Ship of Fools". The back is a tribute to the late, great Led Zeppelin drummer. It shows band members watching John Bonham drown in his own vomit.

Or it could be Roman... ::)
