I'm so glad I took a day off work today. Some days you are just blessed, because after this heat wave (dried the ground) we had some rain over night, just enough, & a lovely cool windy, cloudy day - perfect. Better than that if I had turn up tomorrow (like planned) it would have been too late as the beans were starting to show, which is the time to get off!
I was solo hunting in the morning for 3 hours & picked up 26 coins before Cru'dad arrived with lunch. We then did another 3 hours & 15 minutes together, by which point we had 60 Roman Bronze Coins. Which after being told this by Cru'dad I started off back to the car & said 'we just need 1 Roman Silver' & less than 30 seconds later - BOOM! A stunner! I/we acted a little crazy & turned our detectors off & went home. Funny how you can grid about 2.5 acres with none & get one OTWBTTC (even if it was just a few paces).:laughing7:

60 Roman Bronze Coins - Best 1 day total this year, plus a RARE Carausius (PAX AVGGG)
Roman spoon Handle
Roman Hair Pin
Medieval Buckle
Roman Fibula piece
Roman Key piece
2 Roman Whatzits
Roman Bracelet bit made into a ring
Hammered Cut-halfpenny of Henry III
Denarius of Commodus AD183

The initial recording of these coins took Cru'dad 3 hours which is about the same amount of time he was detecting. Thats without the further 3 hours of resourcing, electronic recording & mapping.

you always find the goods, congrats
Thanks, its nice to be lucky sometimes. This Roman Silver came from an area that was no-where near any others. I was actually worried it was a bronze & about to break the nice round number.:laughing7: (We were just about to turn off our detectors in less than a minutes time from this find!)

Amazing finds, as always! Nice work!

Thanks all. Today will be a foot off the accelerator.

Hi, wow, those are amazing finds and a great hunt. Congrats:occasion14:

"I'm so glad I took a day off work today."

What? You have a regular job? I thought detecting was your job!

Sooner or later, I predict you will hit the big time with a treasure trove find. "The Crusader Hoard". I'm confident. Gary

Cru I often don’t comment on your posts simply because they’re always pretty incredible so I try to choose some of your better days. That’s a hell of an outing my friend. Congrats on a stellar day. I’m guessing Roman spoon pieces don’t often show up in the dirt.

Very well done Cru. That Roman silver is a beauty.

Best of luck to you and Cru'dad!

"60 Roman Bronze Coins" :notworthy:

The quantity, age and quality of your finds is AMAZING. Its like you are the only detectorist in England.....

Thanks all. Today will be a foot off the accelerator.
Well I got that predict wrong, we did far better today than expected on the Roman Metal working Site. I will post later....
