Roman ? ? ? help please

Hi there iv had this item for some time now and still have not been able to work out what it could be so hopefully maybe one of you could help ? I live and found this in the U.K. the site were I found it has turned up alot of artifacts from roman to medieval right up to modern Iv found roman style lead weights a balance arm from scales lots of bronze fittings and other bits and bobs iv even found part of a broken bronze age axe there but I have no idea what this is ? its bronze and the patina is very like that of the roman bits iv found can anybody help ? I can only help by saying it looks brass & it's 100% not Roman. As to its function I'm unsure.

The object appears to be of rolled brass, machine stamped.

Post-Industrial Revolution, from later 19th or early 20th Century.

This looks like a tough one. I'd say it looks like a part of something from a crash, run in by a plow or hit with a bomb. If I was to guess the age I'm going with first half of the 20th century.
