I posted this in other forums as well as this one to get the exposure... so I apologize if I am repeating myself...

I want to know if any are there any legalities of finding roman coins in the US? I don't even know what they are... I do know they are not US coins. Any help would be appreciated

I have a friend that want me to get help identifying them, but I want to know if I am in any legal danger by helping this friend?

I think in the US, the state law dictates unless you are on federal land. Here in Tennessee if you found them they would be yours. Same in Georgia except that Georgia requires you to have written permission to be on the land on your person.

The only difference with finding Roman coins in he US and finding English and Spanish coins...is that if a Roman dropped them then he was SERIOUSLY lost! lol. :laughing9:
You're thinking that maybe the Romans reached America and your friend is holding Earth shattering historical evidence and worried the authorities will confiscate them?
Won't happen.

I was told they were found in some furniture here in the US... I do not know any more details than that of how where or when they were found.

I'll get pics soon...
