Retail asking price is around $125 IF, repeat, IF the coin were in as good a shape as the one CRU showed in his reference.

Sorry for the noob question but how are these coins so common? I would think a coin this old would be worth much much more. Were there really that many of them minted? Is the market for these ancient coins just so small that it affects the value too? Cheers ~ Drewski

The Roman minted them in the millions. Some types more than others & some types were found later in greater numbers. Also during Con the Great or 'I' Rome was in its gold years. This was a period that most sites in the UK & most of Europe had a boom period & therefore there were more coins about. Old or older never means rare, (which is 1 of the deciding factors in value) some US coins are much rarer than most Roman Coins.
