Hi Guys!
Bet you all thought I'd disappeared... No still ere, still digging when I can.
Amongst a few other things (which I'll photograph later) I found this small coin this afternoon on a stroll on one of my local farms - My 3rd Roman coin:
Any idea who it is?
What is the lettering (the odd letter stands out but not enough for me to decipher the word!)?
And a date please?
I'm asking too much aren't I.

Thanks and best wishes to all.

Hello David,

Looks like a coin of Faustina Senior wife of Antoninius Pius she died in AD141. Is it silver or bronze, hard to tell from the picture. I would guess though from the size it's a silver denarius. If Iv'e seen it right.

Thanks for that Rob,
Yes, can make out the letters now I know what I'm looking for.
Just found one similar on Wildwinds:
RIC 382a - Diva Faustina I Denarius. DIVA AVG FAVSTINA, draped bust right / CONSECRATIO, Ceres standing left, holding right hand up in greeting & torch. RSC 166.

My 1st Silver Denarius - Yippee! - 3rd Roman coin to date.
Thanks.
