A ‘rock’ used as a doorstop for decades turns out to be worth €1million:

I sure hope they put some fresh flowers on Grandma's grave.... :occasion14:

Amazing what is just resting under our feet (or holding the door open) that people will pay huge sums for.

Freaking Unreal! THX 4 Sharing! :headbang:

Ain't it the truth. I'm sure many of you will remember this one; https://thejewelerblog.wordpress.co...re-served-as-a-dusty-doorstop-for-nine-years/
The Black Star of Queensland. Now worth upwards of $80 million !!

The Black Star of Queensland’s most recent public appearance was in 2007, when it enjoyed a six-month run at the Royal Ontario Museum.

The gem, which is currently set with a halo of 35 white diamonds, is owned by an anonymous private party. The extraordinary example of September’s birthstone is reportedly worth upwards of $80 million.

Reminds me of the time a large gold ingot went missing at Ansett Airlines here.
People were suspected and accused but it remained a mystery. Until several months later someone went to move the doorstopper in the freight and baggage list room and wondered what on earth was in the canvas bag that was tied up that made it so heavy. The ingot.

"The story of a gold nugget used as a doorstop for three years, sparking the North Carolina gold rush, involves a 17-pound nugget discovered by Conrad Reed in Little Meadow Creek in 1799, which his family initially used as a doorstop. "
