I’m new to rock tumbling. I just started my 2nd batch. The biggest issue with my 1st batch was weight. My tub is supposed to get up to 1 lb of rocks and be 2/3 full. I used ceramic media, but it adds quite a bit of weight, especially on steps 3 & 4 when rocks have reduced in size.
I like to repurpose when I can and keep from landfilling items.
I cut up a batch of artificial corks from wine bottles. They are light weight and take up space. After a few days in step 1 they are working great. They haven’t fallen apart, don’t scratch and keep unnecessary weight off of the machine.
