Hello, I have got this from a neighbor who has a scrap metal company in NJ and did some work at the world trade center. Not sure if it is pyrite or something. Thanks for all your help.

I believe I'm seeing tiny fragments of dark mica, which is called Biotite. I looked up a rock generically labeled Biotite Gneiss and looking at various examples of that type of mineral and I'm thinking that's maybe what you might have ??
