Rock Looks Like A Plum

Been going through some boxes and came across my plum rock. Found this about 20 plus years ago. Looks like a plum, is close to being round at 36.49mm x 36.15mm and weighs 63.1 grams. Thoughts on what type of rock this is.....Thanks in advance.

Looks like a mafic (quartz poor) rock. Maybe basalt?

Thanks Eu_citzen, I think you nailed it with the Basalt. I found some not quite the same but similar.....

Does it have a whole drilled in it? I would like to see that spot and excuse me but what is the weight in ounces or pounds if you dont mind? It looks awfully smooth to be natural. Also where was it found at?

looks like a cannon ball, the kind that came apart and had bits of metal inside.
