Not galena. But not really sure what it is, either. I have a suggestion: file a little window near where the hole is, top right on the 2nd photo and show results. I will be interested in the results.

Hope this helps .... I have no clue what this Rock is. This one rock is over a lb. in weight. About 1.4lbs

My wife is a Science teacher and she's never seen anything like it. I haven't seen anything like it. Was found in a field, I was looking for Arrowheads.

Streak test, scratch test.

Hey hvacker.... It's definitely metallic. I know a lot of rocks are magnetic ... so I grabbed a fridge magnet (it's a very weak magnet only one I had) and I do feel some type of force.

Did the streak test today... it's gray. Did a scratch test on glass ... it does scratch it. Also scratches stainless steel ... wife is going to kill me lol, whoops!!

Looks like a sulphide to me. But Hvacker is right; do the tests. To many possibilities to even start guessing.

Streak test is gray ... will have to do Hardness test next, as soon as I research how to do it. Thanks Eu. Ok, did a scratch test on glass... it does scratch glass. Did another test on stainless steel ... it scratches stainless steel as well.

Marcasite? Arsenopyrite?

Is the streak more ligh gray, or dark gray?

Also whack an edge with something. Does it smell like garlic?

Please be sure to wash your hands afterward Nami if it does, as the garlic smell indicates arsenic, just in case you didn't know. Also a sulfide will have the classic "rotten egg" smell. It is certainly an interesting specimen.

Doesn't smell like anything. No sulfur smell (rotten egg) .. and doesn't smell like garlic. I wash my hands every time I hold it just in case, but didn't know that Rasputin, thanks for the info.
