It looks like a rock that would be used for making fire. The rock would hold a spindle (straight piece of dry wood) from the top... while you would use your bow to spin it. The bottom of the spindle would be in a dry piece of wood to create a spark from the friction. OK, maybe not, but I like my answer ;D

I was going to guess the same. It looks like it would work as a hand hold for starting a fire with the bow drill method. Just a guess. Someone found one with mysterious writing on it, a few years back, but I cannot find it in search.

Rock would be held in your palm to keep spindle from hurting your hand.

Not sure that is what it is tho, the concaved side looks thin raged and undercut, kinda looks like an encrusted button.

Second thought it does look kinda small for a hand hold of a fire starter. It looks more like a petrified fruit, nut or seed of some kind.

It is most likely a natural formation. That is not to say that was not used as a fire starting tool. Ancient peoples often used such naturally formed stones for various tools...pestles, mortars , etc.
