Hi everyone!
Me and my friend Asse (The Swed Hunter) decided to make a road trip to Norway a few days ago!
The main goal was to dig some remains from the Swedish-Norwegian war in 1814. So we jumped in the car and headed for Östfold Fylke in southern Norway.
The first stop was 6 km into the forrest, where we should spend the night! It turned out that the mansion had been in the same family for 12 generations, they had traced it back to the early 1500s!! Items from the stone age had been found near by, and the elderly man whom we talked to still remebered when the German troops came to the property during World War 2! A lot of history, so to speak! He also gave us permission to dig the fields surrounding the property!
The second stop was a small town, where a battle took place between Swedish and Norwegian forces near a church in 1814. After about 1 hour at the local historical archive (thank you to the 3 staffmembers for all the help!) we went to the church to do some reconnaissance. Unfortunately the fields surrounding the church was far more frozen than we thought it would be. (So was the ground around the mansion in the forrest) In fact, we couldn´t hardly dig at all... Later that evening we also started to get some problems with the health (cold, of course!). So... we don´t have anything to show you really! :P Just the story and some nice pictures taken by The Swed Hunter!
We will make the trip again in early 2011, hopefully we will have something more interesting to show you after that!
Have a nice day!
