Hello!
I played hooky from work today and I took a little road trip with Ron to do some detecting. We had a great time! Ron sure found a lot of treasures ~ that dude is a treasure finding maniac! Here's what I found today:
1938 Portland Rose Festival Medallion
1943 Washington Quarter
1945-S Mercury Dime
1946-D Roosevelt Dime
1946-D Roosevelt Dime
1964-D Roosevelt Dime
1932 Canadian Cent
19 Wheat cents (1912 to 1958)
1979-D SBA dollar
3 clad quarters
19 clad dimes
4 modern nickels
63 Memorial cents
DICK TRACY badge
Military botton
Religious Medallion marked STERLING
I took pictures of the silver before and after I cleaned 'em up. These five silver coins bring my year's total to 78!
The 1938 Portland Rose Festival medallion is pretty cool ~ it's about 30 millimeters in diameter (copper or bronze I assume) ~ the front reads, PORTLAND ROSE FESTIVAL / 1938 / JUNE / 8 - 11 (with the image of Mt. Hood and a Rose) ~ and the back reads, AS GOOD AS GOLD / FIRST / FEDERAL / SAVINGS AND LOAN / ASSOCIATION / OF PORTLAND, OREGON.
And the military button has lots of gold guilding still ~ it's about 7/8 of an inch in diameter (about 22 millimeters) ~ and the back reads, "WATERBURY BUTTON CO. CONN".
Also, the Dick Tracy badge/pin is a good find (too bad the pin is missing from the back side). It's about 40 millimeters tall, and 32 millimeters wide. The front reads, DICK TRACY / SECRET SERVICE / PATROL / SECOND YEAR / MEMBER
