Went out a week or so ago and hit a Road Tear out here locally.

It was starting to seem like it was a bust when I finally got my firs coin signal.

It was turbo green so I was hoping it was an IH...But after a little cleaning I saw the Wheatback :BangHead:

Was heading back to the car, and I got a solid 80 on the ATP...Thinking its another Wheat I will have to chip out of the solid ground, I almost left it there. But signals were scarce so I dug it up.

Out pops a beat up worn Barber Dime!!..its wild because I have had Barbers read dead on 80 this year

Anyway, Got home to clean up the junk Wheats and noticed it was a 1914-something.

Ive been soaking it in Oil, hoping i can make out a mint mark, or if im just seeing thing.

I know its toasted, but would be cool to actually be a key date.

Thanks for looking! Tnet.jpgTnet Dime back.jpgTnet Dime.jpg

looks like there's something there! Hopefully it's not just a well-placed corrosion bubble. Keep us posted on the outcome!

Nice digs. Thanks for the pics

Nice finds my man. I think that silver dimes usually read 84 on the ATP... however, if it was at an angle... it might have looked smalle to the ATP... just a thought. GL&HH.

Hope I am wrong...but I think maybe the "mintmark" is a little too left of where it should be. I am no expert, but my "D" is centered between the 9 and 1. Again I could be wrong, so good luck getting it cleaned up w/ a good ID.

great finds. looks like a 14-S to me

Looking at it again, I think you got a D... I see you are in TX, closer to Denver than the other mints....now I am rooting for ya!

Just from the pictures it looks like a D to me, but I'm old and my eyesight is horrible...LOL. Do you have a loupe? Absolutely love old road tear outs and sidewalks too. I work in the construction industry so I get to see quite a few of them.

Just checked the price of that key date = Nice !!! Hoping it's a D for ya !!!

my 61 Rosie was 80 on my Gold, like a clad dime

Pulling for ya to have that d!

I have looked thru a Loop many times, Even the picture of this as taken thur the Loop,

Its so hard to tell What it really is, Im hoping after a couple good weeks of soaking I might make out the mint mark, or it might disappear, lol

I found a couple pics on the Internet, but they 2 of the pics i found make the mintmark looks to be in a different locations on both.

See attached picture

Makes me wonder how many times I have skipped sounds on my metal detector, what did I miss? Hmmmm.

Really good finds you got there
