A treasure hunting store owner in St Augustine has told me Florida recently passed a law banning ANY MD'ing in state waters. No ocean, no rivers, no lakes. Florida now claims everything to itself. I've tried to look for info on state websites, but to no avail. DOes anyone have the 411 on this? I understand the low tide-high water mark rule, but I though Florida had an isolated finds form for river and lake hunting? According to this store owner, this has been done away with, and you can no longer do any detecting in waters in Florida. I didn't ask about private property, my guess is do what you want if it's your land. If this is so, can you hunt the river BANK? Or is that off-limits also? There's got to be a way to get this ban repealed. Also, concerning Florida, what types of parks can you LEGALLY hunt in? Federal,State,or City? I'm pretty sure Federal places such as Castillo de San Marco are off limits, but what about state parks such as Anastasia? What about city parks? You know, the random 1/2 acre of trees with a sign of some dead dude? I've been told I can't "dig holes in the grass", so I have to leave. This is most likely from some jerk calling the cops on me because they have nothing better to do. Both times, I left without questioning. It wasn't worth it to me without knowing the law. Any help here?
