The first rock was found at a site with many fossils. I was curious as to what minerals/is going on with this rock. There weren't many others like it at the site.

The second photo : I found this in the river while rock hunting. It's a strange rock for the river (the red color especially). I have looked at photos of local minerals for a while and can't find it. Any thoughts on what this is? Thank you for the help.

Both I believe are quartz. The first is a more druzy quartz and the second is a microcrystalline quartz.

I'm also going with quartz - at least for the first one.
