The rain finally stopped and I was able to get in a few hours at a park I have been hoping to check out for a while. the river rose this spring and everything was under a few feet of water for weeks but is back to normal now. The first thing I dug was a 1925 Wheat Cent - pretty worn down, but it started the day out on the right note. Then I dug up some 1960's-70's Lincolns but no silver yet. (someday!!) Found some costume jewelry that was down about 6" by a tree - the cross thing. A Disabled American Veteran "Mini-Licence" keychain tag (minus the licence though. Bummer). Then some keys and just before I packed up as it was getting dark, I got a loud signal and dug up the Mount Rushmore medallion. No idea of who made this thing but I suspect it might have fallen off an RV or something. Pretty fun day all in all.

Nice Finds...I'm trying to figure out how someone would loose 2 of the same exact key :)

The third one looks the same to me too...looks like it might be slightly different. Maybe a mistake by the key maker. Whoever it was, they were either very, very clumsy or had a very bad day at work (notice the "do not duplicate").

Thanks for the feedback! I had a great time finding all of these. Starting to really get into the hobby and look forward to another day of hunting.

The three keys are all marked the same on one side and as Jowls stated, the "Do not duplicate" stamp on them usually indicates they are apartment keys or something from my experience. (Though I have never had any problem getting a copy made of my keys - and they were stamped the same) The large key on the left is labeled "Schlage" on the other side and weighs much more than the others - probably for a bigger lock (PAT. 5,715,717). All of the keys were found near a boat landing and I suspect people may have been in a rush to get home and dropped their keys while hooking up their boats to the trailer. The park may have some more nice items in it and I plan to go back and check it out again. It has been around since the early 1900's and I'm going to try some of the trails and maybe an area over by the rocky beach.

I haven't been able to find any information on the Rushmore medallion yet. Searched online but found nothing to match it.

plehbah - loved the Count Dracula comment! LOL

:)
