not sure. Not extremely heavy. It's not sharp anywhere,it also doesn't leave any residue when wet like rust would.

ohh no I didnt find with detector. I was just canoeing. But I havent ran a detector over it either.

Give it a shot. If it's a rock. It's a nice one. Sorta like looking at the clouds and seeing things.

This looks like letters , not normal markings that you would find on a rock....can you get a better pic of this area....or look at it through a magnifying glass.....

Well I found a arrowhead on the same bed. maybe it's a indian tool. Daryl it has been scrubbed pretty well.
Gypsyheart it definetely has strange markings on it. Has some on the center also. almost eerie looking.

Looks like a carved otter. I have found a few carved water creatures in the water, mostly in stream/river beds, occasionally on the edge of a lake. Found a cone head made from a raw metal once...anyway...looks like a carved otter, clean it off.

If it is a carved rock, you are going to have to find a better way to clean it. Maybe there is a way that's easy. I'll see what I can find.
