River beds

I am trying to find any info on looking for gold in old river beds.not just any river bed,These have holes in rock the size of cars,wondering if these would have big nuggets down in the bottom,there is a lot of these,but would like to hear of some success in this way of finding before spending a lot of time pumping one out and panning the bottoms. Any one done this with results? This bed does still see water during flooding.thanks for the help.

contact your/any state department of natural resources for the "list of publications" for your state. this list id free and its full of documents on what has been found in your state. some of these publications are free and some go for a really cheap price. somewhere in there youll find some articals/publications that show what these state boys been out finding on our dime!
