I went to the Iowa River north of Wapello, Iowa this morning. As you can see, the river is nearly gone; just piles of sand and a shallow channel.
The photo shows the old bridge piling which usually has water 4 or 5 feet up the side. Any way, it looked like a primo chance to detect an area that is usually wet. After a lot of walking, I found the items in the 2nd photo: 2 pull tabs, small liquor cap, rusty chunk of iron and a flat piece of aluminum. I would have predicted, bottle caps, aluminum cans, lead sinkers, car parts, etc. I was amazed at the lack of typical junk. At least I didn’t have to haul it home for disposal this time and it was a great walk! 👍🏼
