That’s a generous river bank.
I don’t know your region, but I’ll take a stab. Eastern Central-big river? Kirk-Stemmed?
I’d like to know what that material is.
Nice finds , sweet point and some good sized pottery I’d call that a great day I’m guessing the point in last pic is the same point just looks lighter from mud / clay on it dried out
Im trying to type it but ive only been able to figure out a couple ive found.
Im no good at that, even with overstreet. Plus im right at the three regions ec, es, and gc.
I dont find as many pottery pieces with the lines .
Awesome haul. I like the pottery. Any idea of the culture?
Like you, I can rarely ID my finds.
projectilepoint database is somewhat limited and example pictures show plenty of variation that seems to overlap with other types. Makes it hard to feel secure about any similarities.
I'm left to rely on the kindness of knowledgable strangers on forums like this.
Even then, it's rare to get a confident ID.
As a result I've got a cigar box full of maybe/maybe nots.
The shards to the right, next to the large one with the quartz on it are linear or Deptford looking and aged as late or middle Archaic. I have several but mine are all from the Southeast and the Carolinas. Im sure as same style tools are similar pottery might be as well. Even the smallest decorated are keepers.
Nice point and pottery finds !
I would second the argillite material and Kirk Stemmed with bifurcated base point type. Can't wait to see what else you find there. HH
