Looking for some insight into what this may have been a part of. Found today in the ocean along with 1877 seated dime,V nickle, and 1900's barber dime. I get a bit of lead toys and old stuff at this spot. Looks like it was attached at the end of the protrusion to something else??
Any ideas greatly appreciated! might be pewter?

I would say the ring is unfinished and what you have is the sprue from the mold still attached. HH

Thanks guys. Makes perfect sense. How about age? pretty crude looking. Any way of dating general age by the sprue?

It looks like it might be a novelty ring that would have had a rubber ball attached. Squeeze the ball--squirt water in someones face. Are there any tiny holes in the face surface ?
