So, before being floored with a bout of flu like no other in many years, I managed some hunt time Saturday with my Pal Rob, Andre1002. He was dragging his rump a bit, so I left him a message that I was going to be at a lot we both knew, and, coincidentally, the lot I found my first IH, back in May ( http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/t...unting-first-ih-new-oldest-coin-surprise.html ). This find was so Deja Vu, How? First Diggable signal, Within a foot of my May find, and The exact year as the first find 1907. Freaky. Everything paralleled the first IH find. To add more surprise, When Rob finally shows up, his first dig, a 1900 HI. Also found a Wheatie.

After a bit, we move on. We try a vacant lot near the location of a train station long replaced by sprawl and mall. I found a Cell Phone, battery and Sim Card removed, in Hot Pink, Wow and a Police car. Rob found some clad.

Next, I suggest a lot near a creek that runs along part of town. Despite some overgrowth, I was certain this once had a residence. Much to my surprise, I found what seemed completely out of place. A Virginia (Portsmouth Div)Transit Token in pretty good shape. Obviously and odd find for California. And a Beat watch.

We did some exploring around and eventually called it a day.

By the time I got home and hit the sack, I was hacking up a storm.

I did sneak out for 2 short 15 minute hunts at the school by my house. Scored two rings. One had me at hello, until I learned it was Gold Plated bling. The other, nice winged bling. But, rings nonetheless.

Not bad given we were coved in snow for a week.

Thanks for sharing my fun.

Cool story, love the token and rings. Lots are hard I think, I tried it once and got a whole day of junk. Never again I said after that. Maybe I should reconsider. Thanks for sharing.

Nice finds! Hope you're better! Detail on the IH is awesome! Maybe your detector came with a cloning mode (two 1907 IH)! Glad the "cops" was the toy kind, you had me there! Lol! Nice rings! I hear ya on the "OMG!.......wait.....GP 925?.....sigh." Happened to me....more than a few times. GL. HH!

That's the thing about vacant lots, the more junk, the less likely it's been seriously hunting. Though the work to get to the good stuff seems overwhelming, the reward could be as well. The most difficult place I've worked was littered with High tones from steel, Lows from Iron, and other large and small scrap. But it also gave me my oldest coin, 1864 Seated half. My most hunted vacant lot, produced 4 slivers, and a few relics. I once saw it as a "Trashy" site. Not so much anymore. It's kinda tough finding anything now. but sometimes, something shows up.

Parks and schools are hard. Lots of interruptions with lookey loos hunting every square inch for the one honking large Gold Ring. Vacant lots are relaxing and even though you might be digging junk, its other peoples junk, so trying to date the sight while working through resent drops, old drops and good stuff. If you just want to get the goods and move on, then vacant lots may not be that fun for you. It's only my second full year. All I know is, I like Gold, I like Silver, and some relics are really cool. I found more gold last year, but found older coins this year. So your objective is really the key to deciding if vacant lots are for you. For me, There are there, I am here, and my desire to Hunt overrides the level of trash in a lot. I will dig, I will find, I will POST. because, I am a Hunter. LOL. :-)

Nice finds thanks for sharing.. I will be glad when we finally thaw out up here in north central Pa. and I can finally get back out..

Man, you are a die hard! Looks like it was well worth your efforts though. Congrats on the IH and bling.
Was the cop in the parking lot doing donuts? :tongue3:

Yep, I'm just gonna have to get outta here soon! Sorry to hear about your ailment. Drink lots of fluids! Just make sure they're the right ones! ;)

Very nice finds!

I hope you thaw out soon. If it was me, I'd take some large barrels full of debris, light it up and thaw some land to hunt. It was way to tough to wait a mere week while the snow melted. That is the longest thaw I've seen here in 10 years. I doubt I could take it in a much colder environment.
