Ring Weapon?

Found this a while ago in a collapsing old house. The house will be demolished soon, but I saved this. It looks like a handmade ring that could be used in a fight to do some damage. The top is smooth. Any info would be appreciated!

Hard to tell from the pic, but it looks more like an old initial ring, or a ring that was meant to have initials carved in the top. Is it silver?

I suppose any large ring could be used for fighting. Personally, I try to avoid fights. I find my aging body no longer likes the feel of bruising.

It's a signet ring. No markings inside to indicate type of metal? I found a similar ring made from a 3/4" stainless steel Nut. Home made!
