Same city park as the mercury a couple of days ago. About 4 or 5 inches down. No markings, but came out shining like silver and I can't find anywhere where plating has rubbed off. I think the stone is coral, but I'm open to other thoughts and opinions.

Is there a "do it yourself" test for silver content?

Thanks for looking and good hunting all,

It looks silver to me. Silver is not magnetic. Try sticking a magnet to it and see what your results are.

Looks like silver to me!

You can test for silver by -
sticking a magnet to it. The magnet won't attract silver.
swab a dab of bleach on the back. Bleach will rapidly tarnish silver. (you can polish it afterwards) (plated will pass this test)
place the ring on an ice cube. Silver being very conductive will make the ice melt faster than a lower conductive metal.

The best method is an acid test. You can get acid test kits for under $10.

Nice. The stone could be coral or what is called Inca Rose.

Very nice! Congratulations!

First thing I'd check is if there's any mark inside the ring. Depending on age, there may be some indication whether it's silver. I keep an acid test kit for silver and gold handy when in doubt. Good luck - it's a beautiful find regardless!
