While waiting to pick up my daughter for the weekend from college, I found and old orphanage that was established in 1865 and was detecting out where the playground used to be. Didn't find much in the limited time there, but did bring up this ?. First thought was that I had finally found a ring then after a closer look maybe a bushing from some type of machinery. After bringing it home and rinsing the dirt off, I noticed it has markings inside the band. Before I throw it in the bucket with the other neat but useless trinkets I've found, thought it would be neat to see if anyone here could actually ID it for me. I drew a picture of the markings that are in it for better reference. It's either a 6 or 0 and two triangles with an arrow through the tops of them. What you can't see in the pictures are the little bevels on each outside edge and on both sides of the groove that goes around the center. It appears to be two different metals here, one surrounding the other except for the where the beveled outside edge is. It fits tightly on my little finger, a dime will pass freely through the center. The little bevels give it a shiny effect when turned under a bright light. Valuable jewely or useless trinket?
