Hello friends,

John fit in a couple of hours of detecting today and uncovered his first flying eagle cent, 1858! He also found a pretty nice IH penny, 1864. Lastly, he found what we think is a small ring, although we're not sure. We think it's made of brass, but strangely, it was welded together with gold. Can't explain this one, pretty bizarre! Also posting our 1775 #5 Grand Army Mass Militia button because I finally had a chance to do the Elmer's Glue preservation on it! Solid button and came out great. Thanks to our TNet friends for that preservation advice. Hope you all had a great day. -Lisa & John

Excellent finds....congrats!
I like Mass swag....especially RevWar, Colonial stuff...
Yes, I'm a Mashhole.:laughing7:

Congrats. The ring is crude, so I wouldn't be surprised if it dates fairly early. The FE cent is a pretty decent example of a had to find dug coin.

Thanks, David. Yup, crudely made for sure. And probably a pinky ring or child's ring at only 12 mm. -L&J

THE RING LOOKS TO BE MADE FROM A THIMBLE DUE TO AT TIMES SOLDIERS DIDNT HAVE THE MONEY TO BUY ONE .NICE FINDS

i think it is a ring also. i have found some questionable type rings also.

What an interesting thought! Soldiers were rumored to have camped on the property, so that is a possibility. Thanks! -L&J

Thanks so much, Rogue. It is a beauty! I think Banners have to be voted in by other members. We sure would love our first Banner though! -L&J

Outstanding!! That site needs a good goin' over.......
Curious about the ring. I dug one similar out of my front yard last month. I'd love to know what you can discover from your research. A local jeweler looked at mine and didn't seem impressed. Please keep me in mind...............

Great finds! FE congrats, I think (doesn't mean I know) the ring is plated, I have pulled allot of plated rings, it's what it looks like to me.
Your button preservation is awesome.

Hi Chizzy, I bet we would get the same response from a jeweler-unless there is such a thing as an archaeology-jeweler! Will update the post if we find out anything further. Thanks! -L&J

Thanks, Treble! Could be plated. Just seems so ancient! -L&J
