I had a few hours to kill afterwork on Friday so I reach out to my regular hunting buds, Mangum and Shovelnose for a meet up. I tell Mangum that I need to go to a field I had not hunted in quite a few months because my internal gold radar was pinging like hell. Something told me to go to this particular field. I'm good like that. Shovelnose decides to meet up with his new Tesoro UMax. I get there first and pull a gold bracelet. I first thought it was real but it was an unmarked plated item. Another chain...I believe I am up to 17 chains in the last two months.
Shovelnose shows up just as I am pulling a 12 41 signal and get a honker of a ring and it is marked 14KT. I can tell by looking at it is another fake marked piece of jewelry. It was still a cool find.
A few minutes later Mangum shows up and another 15 minutes later I get a 12 17 (i think) and dig something that looks silver. Closer inspection and I see it is tape. I rub the side and see the beautiful color of gold. Next I see some diamonds then a ruby/garnet. This is one cool ring design and even better I can see it is marked 10. I acid test it and it is 10KT but alas the stones do not appear to be real according to my tester. Either way I am thrilled my chain streak is continuing...#17 and that I got my 4th gold of the year and 17th and 18th rings of the year.
After my ring find Shovelnose asks to test his Umax over the ring. He noticed it was notching out the ring so he says to me he is going to turn off the notch. 5 minutes later he nails a 10KT ring but I'll let him tell that story. As we closed out the evening, Mangum, not to be out done, pulls a nice 925 necklace. A great Friday hunt was had by all.
