Well my night time 'silver streak' has finally come to a close. Boo-hoo. Saturday the 30th I was out at an old site and out pooped at 1918 Merc. See last post. I was completely stoked to have found DAAAAY TIIIIME silver. Woo-hoo!!!!
Sooooo. I get this crazy itch to go new years hunting with my son. We grabbed el-cheapos (see avatar for el-cheapo used) and hit some lots in the ghettos in Houston. I will not divulge the names or locations of said ghettos, because, they are mine. All mine......The reason I say this is because it seems that some LOSERS at Camp Logan having been digging up the woods and leaving iron pipes and other iron crap lying upon the ground and the holes gaping in the terrain. This is not cool. As a matter of fact these folks need a lesson in manners and environmental hygiene. No proof that anyone lurks this forum JUST for info, but, I am pretty sure they do.
Anyhoo, at same said un-named and un-disclosed ghetto I nail a dollar signal at 8" or so. I dig it. I strike!! I pull it up. It is a round box. Likea lip balm can or something. It is heavy and clean and I know right away that I have a neat little sterling item. After I carried it home I played around with it for a while and got it opened. There was once a small mirror inside. No idea on the age. No pics yet. Scanner died days after getting the new camera I haven't figured out yet. As soon as I figured out how to download them I will get them up.
The description for now is as follows: Round, size of an 1879 silver dollar, top is slightly domed and without the inside mirror, bottom is flat with 1/4" high sides, weighs an 1879 silver dollar. The markings on the outside of the base read 'sterling T1675'. The lid has a basket weave -type background whereupon is etched a tall handled flower basket with a rose extending from each side and a ribbon flowing around it.
The surrounding homes were built approximately 1900. Pics as soon as I can. I was just anxious to tell the world!!

Thanks all for posting. I am anixious to get them posted. Beware. As I stated before the item is bent on the back. I would like to consider restoration if the item is vintage enough. I am completely stoked that is is STEEEERLIIIING!!!
A few reasons I am all worked up. It is obvious because it is silver. My nite-only silver streak is OVER and my VERY FIRST KEEPER OF THE YEAR is......................silver. I expect it to be fairly modern with the hope that it is fairly not.
