Notice how they were very adamant about stretching the "Possibility" factor in their hunt....

That they were searching for a "Possible" treasure......that shows they are worried about publically stating what they already know and are fabricating a scenario that fits with their applications to Heritage.....

Petter already uncovered the stones and found the links in Shakespeare and they applied for the permit under a "Treasure Hunting" permit knowing that they were hunting a religious trove of relics.

Notice how they clearly admit they have "No clear leads" to the audience when they are really just overlooking the truth, making any comment to avoid admitting the nature of the real mystery.....
