Among the odd bits of metal I've found exploring the old cabin site on my property is this looped-head double pin. Maybe a ribbon passed through the loop. Any ideas?
The cabin was probably built in the mid-1850s, and may have been used as a hunting/fishing/camping cabin well into the 1900s. The only physical traces of the structure are the stone foundation piers.
