Hi, I'm from Northern IL. New to Treasure Net. I'm visiting my parents in Fl. I was researching detecting rules for Fl. and happened on to this site. I would like to relate a situation that happened to me. The LaSalle club IVHRRA had a club hunt at a county park. We saw rangers there. I found the best find of the hunt an 1839 Lg cent. In the early spring before the park opened we were looking to go in and detect where it would later in the year be overgrown. I contacted the park super and he said there were written rules about no detecting in laSalle co. parks. The members of the club said they've detected the Co. parks forever! I said at a meeting that because I had been told no I would not detect there anymore. A couple of members went later that season and were kicked out. Was it because I asked? The problem is it was outlawed but no one seemed to enforce the rules.

Welcome aboard from the great state of Pennsylvania! Absolutely NO (was it because I asked?)! The bottom line is it depends on which Ranger was present during the hunts. If it is against the law - just because it wasn't enforced doesn't mean it was ok. You did nothing wrong Rhino0816.

Welcome!

Wayne
