Musta been mad a member of his group kept using his mulligans. ;)

Super cool find!

Yeah really cool.
Almost didn't click, as these type of thread titles almost always lead to yet another blanking cap gun.
Glad I was wrong.
I guess we always wish for better condition, one year older etc. it would have been nice if it were a little more complete, but that's more hand gun than I've ever detected.

Interesting piece. Any identification at all on it?

The only thing I can see on it Scuba is part of a serial # on the grip. I soaked it with gun oil and hope that it will help remove some of the corrosion. The grip appears to be brass. I think that I will try electrolysis to try to remove some of the rust and see if it reveals anything to help identify it.

That's a pretty random thing to find on a golf course still awsome find!!

In looking closely at it it appears as though you are missing the top part of the handle frame. You have the bottom and the main spring but not the top. So probably some of the serial number is gone. That gun has seen better days unfortunately. Interesting place to find a gun though. Have you done any research on the golf course? I hunted one in Utah a lot that was an amusement park from the 1860's - 1926. I really found some interesting things there.

All I know is that it operated for years and went out of business in 2012. I suspect that it was part of a farm before that because I also found some metal that looks like it might be horse tack or part of a wagon setup. A buddy of mine recently bought the front 9 holes of this course. I was only able to get out yesterday for a couple of hours but plan to return soon.

Nice find,,
did find a derringer on Friday but it turned out to be a toy.
Looked real.
What were you feeling when you dug that bad boy out?
Congrats

Against the wind,At first I thought cap gun and then realized that it was real and thought wow cool!

That looks VERY cap & ball to me. The forward part of the hammer will let you know for sure . . .

Looks like a Colt percussion revolver, if so there should be a serial number on the brass ahead of the trigger guard.
