Rev War 6 & 7!

Was as nice of a late Oct. day as can happen here so I thought it was better to get out and dig a few holes this afternoon than to stay in. Hit some fields I've hunted for over 15 years, but not real hard in recent years, so I was hoping the plow might have turned up a couple more, and just my luck it did. These were the first old sites I have ever hunted so I have some great memories, and given the nice sunny day I was already in my happy place just to be out swinging the coil... the buttons just made it a much happier place! Now that's not to be confused with the happiest place where Ironhorse has got this Fall!... but I still have time and want to be there too!

Only managed 3 buttons at the first site in about 2 hours swinging, and that's where I got the pewter 3rd American. Then I switched fields and was getting a little more, but the % were never quite as good at the 2nd site for early military... so it was quite a surprise to see a Rev War 23rd officer button come out of the ground... and as you may, or may not know, the 23rd is quite a historical regt.. Thinking it may just be my best find this Fall as it's only my 3rd Rev numbered button since I started detecting in 1999.

Not sure whether you mean sites or making a joke about hitting the right buttons. These two sites just happened to be two of the best I've hunted, and the first must have been settled mostly by early soldiers because several different military buttons have been found there with multiples of some. So even though it's difficult to find targets these days, if the conditions are decent- meaning it has been plowed since I've hunted there, I know if I can just find a button or two I have a chance. And like I said I dug 3 and got the pewter. Everything was unexpected about the 23rd.
